How to reach us

Slovenia is situated in the heart of Europe, at the cross-roads of Europe’s fifth and eleventh corridors. Slovenia borders Italy to the west, Hungary to the east, Austria to the north and Croatia to the south. Slovenia also has its own little patch of the Adriatic coast. We like to say that Slovenia is located on the “sunny side of the Alps”. Everybody in Europe can easily reach Slovenia by air, rail or road.

By air

Slovenia's national carrier, Adria Airways, offers regularly scheduled flights to most major European cities. Catch a direct flight from Ljubljana to Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, Brussels, Belgrade, Birmingham, Budapest, Paris, Barcelona, London, Dublin, Manchester, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Moscow, Split, Skopje, Sarajevo, Ohrid, Tirana, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Podgorica, Prague, Rome, Priština, Warsaw and other destinations.

Finnair will introduce a direct flight form Helsinki to Ljubljana in May 2009.

There is also a possibility to fly into Slovenia from one of the major international airports (Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Paris, London, etc.)

Situated only 25 minutes by car from Bled, the main Slovenian Airport Ljubljana-Brnik is the biggest and closest airport to the host city.

The Organizing Committee will organize transportation between Ljubljana-Brnik airport and Bled for all the competitors, the team staff, official visitors, and members of the press. There will also be an information centre set up at the airport for all visitors. Special buses will be operating continuously between Brnik and Bled.

By car

You can best get to know a country if you visit it by car. Enter Slovenia via one of the border crossings with Italy, Austria, Hungary or Croatia, or rent a car in one of our car rental agencies. Slovenia’s highways are good and signs are clearly posted. Along the roads you will find rest stops, inns with overnight accommodation, and motels.

Because of Slovenia’s central position in Europe, many competitors will be able to reach the country by car.

By train

Almost every important tourist destination is served by modern and comfortable trains. Connections abroad are also excellent: you can come to Slovenia on direct lines from Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia. Train travel is convenient and inexpensive.

Since Bled has a railway station, access to the city is easy and fast.

By bus

It is also possible to reach Slovenia from neighboring countries by bus. International bus transport is well organized and relatively inexpensive. The timetables and other information will be available soon.
